Wanzek is thrilled to partner with AES, a U.S.-based global energy company, to build AES’ Delta wind project – Mississippi’s first utility-scale wind farm.

AES and Wanzek both strive to advance the future of renewable energy, which is why partnering to construct this project was a natural fit.

This innovative project will feature 41 wind turbines that will generate 184.5 megawatts of clean energy in Tunica County, MS.

AES’ Delta wind project is on track to begin operations in 2024; however, it is already making significant economic and environmental impacts on the community during construction. By creating nearly 300 jobs in Tunica County, this undertaking opens numerous opportunities for local businesses and residents. Wanzek has held local job fairs in recent months, further accelerating local workforce opportunities.

This is just the beginning of the Delta wind project’s benefits, as the pioneer project is set to create tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue for Tunica County and the school district. It will also produce 535,750 megawatt-hours of carbon-free electricity each year, which helps improve the air quality, reduce CO2 emissions and generate enough clean energy to power the equivalent of 80,000 Mississippi homes each year.

While this is the state’s first utility-scale wind farm, Wanzek and the entire MasTec Renewables team maintain a strong presence in the South. We’ve completed dozens of wind and solar projects in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee, Texas and beyond, totaling more than 47 gigawatts of power across North America.

Additionally, Wanzek is slated to begin work on more renewable energy projects in the tri-state region near Tunica County in the coming months, further transforming the future of energy in Mississippi.

We’re proud to partner with AES and look forward to continued collaboration and successful construction in the months ahead!
