The Borderlands Wind Project is located in Quemado, New Mexico on public and state land. Wanzek began civil work on Borderlands in October 2020 so that the client’s subcontractor, Energy Erectors, could start the substation. The Wanzek team started back up in April 2021 to finish the remainder of the wind farm. Borderlands was the first project in the U.S. to utilize GE’s 3.03 WTGs (30). The project was successfully substantially completed in early December 2021.
Project Scope:
- EPC for civil and foundations
- Installed underground collection per owner’s engineer
- Installed WTGs, four GE 2.3 MW towers and 30 GE 3.03 MW
