The Karankawa Wind Farm is located four miles east of Mathis, Texas in San Patricio/Bee County. Karankawa was very challenging to construct due to such a flat terrain that didn’t allow water to drain away from the site, but Wanzek worked extensively with the engineers and designed a wind farm that will last for 25–30 years. This project consists of 124 GE Turbines (114 GE 2.5 and 10 GE 2.3) that span 22,000 acres of pasture and farmland. Karankawa delivers 308 MW of electricity and was completed on time/to the satisfaction of the client and all participating landowners.
