The La Joya Wind Project was the second phase of a multi-project development, (the first phase was El Cabo, which was also completed by Wanzek). La Joya was on a combination of state and private land where the money the state received for the turbines went directly to its school funding. This project contained the largest electrical scope ever completed by Wanzek, including a new switchyard that tied into the previous transmission line, connecting both El Cabo and La Joya to the utility.
