Thunder Spirit II

The Thunder Spirit II Wind Project was completed utilizing over 70,508 labor hours and is located in the southwestern portion of North Dakota. This project was purchased by Montana Dakota Utilities once completed. Thunder Spirit II is a 48 MW wind energy project using 16 Nordex 3.0 - 117 wind turbines with a 117-meter rotor diameter and a 91-meter hub height. This project produces enough power for about 15,000 homes over a year’s time.

Project Scope:

• Civil, foundation, O&M building, 34.5/230 kV substation upgrade and two additional 34.5-kV collection system circuits
• Access road, crane paths, turbine pad construction
• Foundation excavation, rebar, concrete, backfill and crane pad
• Collection cable install and terminations
• Wind turbine offload
• Erection
• Tower wiring
• 3,200 SF pre-engineered metal storage building
